After Gemma and Tony’s pre-wedding shoot last Summer I remember being excited about their wedding at Norton House Hotel because they were such lovely, warm people to be around. They chose to tie the knot the Garden Suite side of Norton House Hotel. I’ve photographed several weddings at Norton House but it was my first time at the Garden Suite side and I loved the modern feel of the place! The Garden Suite pond was a great feature and the reflections really added something special to the shots. We also walked around to the grounds next to the main house and took plenty more shots there. These two make an adorable couple, it’s clear to see they were made for one another! After the official photos I was able to capture some candid shots of people enjoying themselves. The speeches were very entertaining and the best men had even created a slideshow named “The Tony Show” – fantastic! All the best guys :-).

I had the pleasure of photographing this lovely central Edinburgh wedding at the Rowantree back in August last year. It was a relaxed day with lots of fun, laughter and emotion. I’ve photographed several weddings at the Rowantree now, it’s a very unique venue which oozes atmosphere! The ceremony was lit by candles and some brightly coloured up-lighters which added to the drama of the place. After the beautiful ceremony we managed to take a trip to the nearby Royal Mile for some couple photos while the guests enjoyed their drinks reception. There are lots of great photo locations in a small area which is idea for capturing a good variety of shots in a short space of time. Rebecca and Robert were so happy and relaxed together and this really came across in the photos. Below are a few of my favourites from their big day.

At the end of July I had the pleasure of providing Theresa and CJ’s Edinburgh elopement photography at Lothian Chambers Registry Office. The story of how they got together was amazing…such a story of fate! They found one another in Austria after travelling from opposite sides of the world, Theresa was there on a trip with her best friend and CJ was there snowboarding with work. It was love at first sight. They had only spent a few hours together but knew they wanted to be with one another from the moment they met. They kept in touch online for a year after first meeting. When it came to their wedding day they only spent a total of 3 weeks together and they just knew it was meant to be :-D. This pair were fantastic to photograph, their free spirit and love really comes across in the photos. I took photos at several locations around the Royal Mile and also walked along to Princes Street Gardens.
If you’re planning on eloping to Edinburgh please take a look at this elopement guide I put together which covers the basics. Also check out information from the National Records of Scotland.

I took a break from blogging during my busy wedding season as I simply didn’t have time to keep up with it as well as everything else. Now that I have a little more time I’m keen to blog some of the fantastic weddings that I photographed over the last few months.
At the beginning of August Claire and Colin travelled all the way from their home in the Netherlands for their Edinburgh Zoo Wedding! It was the first wedding I’d shot there and thought it sounded like a slightly unusual choice! When I went to look around the venue prior to the big day I could see exactly why they had chosen it. The Mansion House is a beautiful old building set in fantastic grounds with stunning views. It also has the bonus of having animals on it’s doorstep….perfect for keeping the younger guests entertained!
As the weather stayed dry on the day the guests were able to chat and sip their drinks outside which made for lots of great candid style photo opportunities. I also took plenty of photos of Colin and Claire around the lovely grounds and even managed to stop off at the lemur enclosure :-). It really as a wonderful happy day and I loved being a part of it.

This Summer I had the pleasure of photographing Sophie and James’ Macdonald Holyrood Hotel wedding in Edinburgh. It an amazing day from start to finish, everyone was so warm and welcoming I almost felt like a guest with a camera! After the ceremony we were able to use the area around Dynamic Earth for the group shots before James’ brother chauffeured us to a lovely spot on Arthur’s Seat in his trusty Yaris!
When we returned to the hotel most of the guests were outside on the roof terrace celebrating in style which made for some great canid style shots. Here are a few of my favourite moments from the day.

Helen and David’s Mansfield Traquair wedding in Edinburgh was absolutely stunning and full of fun. The venue itself is one of my favourites, it’s so impressive when you first walk in you just want to say “wow!” After their lovely Humanist ceremony Helen and David were beaming from ear to ear 😆 . There were many great photo opportunities throughout the day. I was highly entertained during the speeches when David’s Mum presented him with a “Game Over” t-shirt and he was left thoroughly embarrassed by his best man’s stories! Sorry David I just had to include a sequence below, the reactions are priceless! Thanks for a fantastic day, please feel free to leave a comment below.
